Just for Today

The 5 Reiki precepts or intentions are just the beginning of your practice. You will add to them in your own way and in your own time; they will reflect where you are on your own path and how you want to feel for the day.

Relax into what you are working on in yourself. Find the flow of your day. Let go of a lot more things that take you in the opposite direction of where you are wanting to go or how you are wanting to feel.

There is freedom in detachment and we all need that space to figure ourselves out.

Finding that sweet spot of feeling emotionally free means that those around you are free to be themselves and have their reactions, opinions, beliefs and their quirks.

Take a couple of quiet moments in your day to imagine in your body what that freedom might feel like. How letting something go feels, or imagine yourself reacting differently to something that typically triggers you.

Imagine how relaxed your body might feel when you are more allowing and there is space in all of the areas that would hold tension when we are trying to control our environment. In knowing that you intend to let more things go, there can be ease between conversations and there is peace in the mind that doesn’t have to figure out how to win this battle.

These feelings or states of being are practiced into who we want to become and how we are choosing to feel in every new day. They do not just materialize after decades of being unhappy with our lives. You must lean forward into them and acclimate your body to a new way of feeling and holding itself.

When we are trying to control what is outside of ourselves, we hold our bodies in a defensive posture and keep that tension for long after the moments have passed. To practice letting go and being detached about what should or should not happen, you are practicing a physical and emotional freedom that changes the course of your day and course of your physical and emotional well-being.
